Dynamyte: A weekly programme for years 7 and 8 focusing on social, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being. This is held during the school term on Friday nights 7.00-9.00pm at ‘The Hub’. It is a place
which assists in building positive attitudes and enhancing values and friendships. Some highlights
include various wide games, waterslide, Moana Pool, Laser Tag, Ice Skating, Bowling, McDonald’s runs and car rally and much more!

R@ndom: A weekly youth programme for students in years 9-13 focusing on social, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being. This is held during the school term on Friday nights 7.00-9.00pm. R@NDOM is an exciting, sometimes thrilling, social environment which builds friendships, enhances values and develops life skills. Whether based at ‘The Hub’ or in the wider Dunedin area, R@NDOM provides youth a place to belong. Some (of our many) highlights have included a formal dinner, car rally, beach nights, crazy food challenge nights, mad pizza nights and much more!

Youth Leadership Programs

Ground Zero: For year 7 students. Ground Zero focuses on helping young people identify and develop their skills and strengths, through fun challenges and activities designed to build confidence, self-esteem, leadership and relational skills.  From team building, to communication, strategy, and task completion, participants will experience a range of activities, which culminate in an overnight camp experience. Ground Zero is run twice per year – in term 2 and 3.

Summit:  For year 8 students. Summit runs in school term 1.  The focus is on further developing individuals’ skills and strengths as well as working as a group.  Participants of Summit will experience a variety of individual and team challenges, finishing with a weekend camp and graduation evening.

Challenge: For year 9, which runs during school term 4.  Challenge focuses on responsibility, respect and team building through activities that require participants to step out of their comfort zone.  As well as this, Challenge activities develop confidence, cooperation, leadership qualities and other essential life skills.  Learning to trust each other and work together is compulsory, as all challenges and tasks require more than one person to complete.

In School Chaplaincy

We also offer small group mentoring called Connect for . . . onsite during school time. This is a great way for young people to build relationships and develop tools and skills to help connect with others. Currently Connect . . . for happens at Taieri College.
